Gluten-Free Self-Rising Flour

MAKES 1 CUP SELF-RISING FLOUR

Common in Southern baking, self-rising flour is simply flour with baking powder and salt already mixed in. It’s traditionally made using low-protein, soft winter wheat flours, the type of wheat historically grown in the South.

Our gluten-free pastry flour blend is designed to perform like to these iconic southern flours in recipes for biscuits, scones, and quick breads, making it a perfect base for homemade self-rising flour.

Recipe Notes

  • Adding the salt and baking powder at the time of baking lets you ensure your baking powder is always fresh. This recipe yields 1 cup of self-rising flour—simply multiply the ingredients by the number of cups needed for your recipe.

Our Recipes

All of our recipes are designed to work perfectly with our 1:1 gluten-free flour blends. Our blends are crafted with gluten-free wheat starch, allowing them to act much more like regular wheat flour in recipes than traditional rice-based gluten-free flours. Because of this, substituting other gluten-free flours will not produce the same results.
